Andersonville Starbucks Closing For At Least 2 Weeks

Wednesday, February 5, 2014
By Daniel Zagotta

sb_300x285.1The Andersonville Starbucks at 5300 North Clark will be closing for at least 2 weeks for much needed and anticipated renovations. The store will shut down at 7pm this Sunday, February 9th with an anticipated reopening on February 26th. But don’t get your caffeine addicted minds all in a tizzy! Manager Jason Lewis is happy to announce that  they will have a take out window installed in the corner entrance ready to dish out your favorite beverages and food. The take out window will be open starting around February 11th. Once the renovated store opens, look for everything new including seating, lighting, fireplace, outlets and service areas.

Too bad they can’t expand. That place is crazy busy all the time.

I hope they get rid of that window-facing bar seating. They used to have a great people-watching view of Clark Street until they put that in.

Too bad they don’t close for good.

    • me

      It will be gone! ;)

How about people just go to The Coffee Studio down the street and patronize a real local business? Who has better coffee, too, I might add.

    • gscan

      Because we don’t want to.

    • Bobby Hoeppner

Or the Starbucks on Bryn Mawr.

    • Jon

Because the coffee is awful and they are too slow

    • Tone

      Lemmings.

  • Betty

I like Coffee Studio but they aren’t particularly friendly. Friendly goes beyond saying thank you. It’s a state of mind.

It would help if it didn’t stink in there too.

  • me

Starbucks will be offering beer and wine after the renovation as well!

    • Tone

Great, more crappy products from Starbucks.

  • AC

might i recommend Urban Orchard? They brew local coffee, Metropolis and Dark Matter. I prefer the Metropolis. The staff is not snotty and slow like at Coffee Studio, the wifi is free unlimited, unlike Coffee studio, and the atmosphere is less cruisy that starbucks. Try them. Good prices, and they have Belly points that get your good rewards. I have been going there since they opened and the sitting area is usually fairly empty!

Don’t forget about the beer and wine!

Ugh….now where am I going to camp out and cruise aggressively while pretending to work/study?

    • JimInChicago

That’s so true! If you say “the gay Starbucks”, it’s amazing how many understand it’s the one on Clark/Berwyn. And if you say “the gay Caribou” it’s amazing how many understand it’s the one on Broadway north of Belmont.

      • Turbo60640

        Please….it’s the Cruiseaboo on Broadway.

        • JimInChicago

Good one. What will you call it when they change their name from Caribou to Peet’s?

    • FGFM

      Cool story, bro.

  • Betsy

everyone should try out George’s Ice Cream and Sweets! It’s just a couple doors down. They serve Illy coffee and have wifi. Super great place to study/work.!

    • StopBullyingMe Waaaaaaaahhhhhh

Sometimes people like to take their guests from out of town visit one of these uber cool, unique local indie establishments but you can’t even find a place to sit for 5 minutes and enjoy your ice cream because the locals have all their sh*t spread out all over the tables for hours while making googly eyes at each other. No different than the bums people complain about living at a McDonalds.

I really wish these businesses would jump off that free wifi wagon and stick to their core business. It really reeks of desperation. You’re probably turning away more business than you think you’re gaining from it.

Nice plug though Betsy. Opportunists everywhere I guess.
