Andersonville resident to star in Marriott Theatre’s “The Pirates of Penzance”
Lincolnshire’s Marriott Theatre is set to preview their production of the Gilbert and Sullivan musical classic The Pirates of Penzance on April 4th. Local resident Jeff Max is no stranger to productions of this nature, considering the extensive and varied roles he’s played in the past. Max was last featured in Marriott’s version of Aladdin, playing “Jafar.” He apparently got in touch with his evil side, as he went on to reprise the role of the notorious Disney villain for two and a half years in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. Some of his other notable roles include “Sam” in Wedding Singer, “Thief/Morito/CPA” in LaChiusa’s See What I Wanna See, “Vince Fontaine” in Grease, “The Dentist” in Little Shop of Horrors, “Miles Gloriosis” in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, “Perchik” in Fiddler on the Roof, “Rooster” in Annie, and “Nathan” in Rothschilds.
Asked about The Pirates of Penzance, Max said ”The thing I’m looking most forward to is playing a pirate in this production! I haven’t done it since I was ten and I’m having a blast! I love singing Gilbert and Sullivan. It’s thrilling!” He elaborated on the production as well, stating “I think local audiences will adore the experience of this particular production. Robbie (Ross Lehman) and Alene Robertson are geniuses and Kevin (The Pirate King) is creating an extraordinary performance. Our “Frederick” and “Mabel” are not only beautiful voices they are gorgeous themselves, and then there are the pirates! This show is better than a roller coaster. Strap in – it’s a great ride!” The Pirates of Penzance opens at the Marriott Theatre on April 13th, and runs through June 10th. The theatre is located at 10 Marriott Dr. in Lincolnshire. According to a recent press release “The performance schedule is Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $41 to $49, plus tax and handling fees.”
