Andersonville Celebrates Four Retail Shops Accomplishments This Weekend

StreetAndersonville is getting pretty well known for everything it has to offer. Recently we did an article on the neighborhood being in US News’ “10 Best” shopping destinations in Chicago. The article praised Andersonville for its passion for everything local.

Today, Alderman Harry Osterman put out an email about special weekend events celebrating four of our retail businesses that are each celebrating milestones. Ald. Osterman said,”Throughout the weekend, I will be hosting events to honor and thank a few special people and businesses who have made a significant impact on the Andersonville community. I hope you can join me.”

The events are:

Friday Oct. 10 – Two local favorites, Scout and White Attic,  celebrate their ten year anniversary! The celebration begins at 7 p.m. at both stores located at 5221-5225 N. Clark.

Saturday Oct. 11 – Women and Children First Bookstore have rightfully sealed their place in local business history. At 10 a.m. the city unveils a new honorary street name “Women and Children First Way” at the NorthEast corner of Farragut and Clark.

Sunday Oct. 12 – Jan Baxter, a much loved neighborhood business legend will be retiring. For 30 years her “Landmark of Andersonville” has given us yet another reason to shop local. Enjoy refreshments and a toast to Jan starting at 2 p.m.
