2 New Bars Add To The Spirited Clark/Balmoral Intersection

party2The intersection of Balmoral and Clark has transformed in the last 10-15 years with the addition of several bars that cater to diverse interests including handcrafted martinis, dancing and drag shows.

In 2002, Atmosphere opened at 5355 N. Clark and gave the corner a shot in the arm with strippers and dancing. Since then, it has added drag shows to its programming. In 2006, Hamburger Mary’s opened its doors at 5400 N. Clark, serving up specialties such as hand-formed burgers and fresh-cut fries. Soon afterward, the restaurant opened its lively party bar upstairs, Mary’s Attic, and Andersonville brewing company next door. Also in 2006, Marty’s Martini Bar opened at 1511 W. Balmoral, offering the hood well-made martinis. Though small in size, the bar regularly packs them in with a spirited attitude.

Now the popular nightlife corner will soon see two new bars enter the scene. Two of Boystown’s most infamous watering holes owned by Mark Liberson (Hydrate Nightclub) will open second locations on the Andersonville strip in the next few months. Replay Beer & Bourbon will start serving up its spirited selections at 5358 N. Clark, offering a wide selection of craft beers. (The Lakeview bar carries 20 on tap alone.) But what will make Replay truly unique is its large selection of vintage arcade games. Whether a Pac-Man junkie or old school pinball wizard, you will most likely get your fix here.

Liberson will also open a second location for Elixer at 1507 W. Balmoral. Elixir has been serving its handcrafted cocktails in Lakeview for a while now. With its new addition, expect to see upscale decor and an intimate feel.
