New Years Day Edgewater Car Jacking

Broderick Epps (Chicago Police Dept. / January 2, 2014)

On New Years Day, 18 year old Broderick Epps of Skokie car jacked a young woman on the 1100 Bock of Ardmore around 10pm, indicating he had a gun. The man demanded cash from the woman. When she told him she did not have any he ordered her to call her fiancee to get money, according to Chicago Police.

When the fiancee got the distressed call, he flagged down Foster District Police and let them know he was to meet up with the car jacker. Officers arrived at that location and spotted Epps walking with the woman.

Epps started to flee after seeing officers. He was ultimately caught on the 6400 block of Sheridan and finally identified by the woman.

Broderick Epps was charged with vehicular hijacking, vehicular invasion and unlawful restraint. All  are felonies and he is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
