Loyola University has begun their fourth annual Summer on the Plaza series at the Loyola Plaza, 6550 N. Sheridan Road (which is just outside the northernmost boundary of Edgewater) on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. through October.

Presented by Loyola University in partnership with Rogers Park Business Alliance and Sheridan Road Special Service Area; the event includes local musical acts, food trucks, performance groups, a variety of programs for children and families, and the University’s farmers market.

The market, which runs through October 15, is now in its eight season in the area. The market offers fresh, locally grown food and provides regular entertainment. The market also makes the food more accessible to a wide range of residents by accepting Link cards, Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons, and Women, Infants, and Children Program coupons. Illinois Link cardholders who spend up to $20 will also receive up to an additional $20 on fresh fruits and vegetables per market day, per card.

According to Loyola University Chicago’s Community relations, Summer on the Plaza programming is part of the RogersEdge Business Improvement Initiative and a program of Loyola’s Plan 2020: Building a more just and humane world strategic plan. It represents a collaboration between Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, Rogers Park Business Alliance and Loyola University to enhance the accessibility, attractiveness and overall appeal of North Edgewater and South Rogers Park commercial areas.
