To carry on the Chicago Artists Month festivities, Good News Only will be hosting a pop up reception one night only on Friday, October 25th from 4-7pm at 5600 Ridge (in the parking lot on the Bryn Mawr side of building).
Artist Justus Roe will be exhibiting a never-before-seen sculpture alongside his public art mural. The mural, sponsored by GNO, spans both sides of the historic flatiron building at the Ridge/Bryn Mawr/Broadway intersection in Edgewater. Roe’s work references architecture, city grid systems, and landscapes. Special thanks to Supera Asset Management for their ongoing support.
Come paint a chair! Artist Annie Feldmeier Adam‘s will have chairs for sitting and chairs for painting. 100 community donated, light, moveable chairs, painted with “People Tend To Sit Where There Are Places To Sit.” are placed in locations on the sidewalks of Chicago’s Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods. The installation runs through October and the chairs movements will be documented throughout the month. Based on urbanist William H. Whyte’s studies, these installations create seating and participatory engagement in public spaces.

North Branch Projects will be presenting their ongoing series of Response Books, a project which uses handbound books as a catalyst to converse with the general public. Anyone and everyone is free to peruse and write (or draw) responses to questions drawn up by members of the community. All books become part of the bindery’s Neighborhood Archives which are housed in their Albany Park storefront studio.
We are thrilled to be working with Heather Hancock and Sarah Laing on the public art mural co-sponsored with Eco-Andersonville on the southeast corner of Bryn Mawr & Clark Street. Graphic lines painted in layered blues and grays refer to both sky+water and the infrastructure of the built environment. Color and reflectance is introduced with circles cut in vibrant amber and orange glass. The installation is expected to be completed on Friday, October 25th. We encourage everyone to walk along Bryn Mawr to view the brand new mosaic mural. Special thanks to Adriatic Cafe for their support of this project.
